1. Start with your details
Open the free CV builder. Add your name and contact details, then move through your profile, experience, education and skills. Projects, volunteering and placements count as evidence when you describe them accurately. Use role examples for structure, not copied achievements.
2. Choose a layout and check the content
Choose one of 12 templates, then open Review. The checklist helps spot missing details; it does not predict hiring. Use the Preview tab on mobile to inspect your document. PDF and Word downloads use a single-column layout; Print follows your chosen visual template.
3. Save and download
Your draft is retained in this browser tab as you navigate or refresh. Enable saving on this device to keep it after closing the tab. Use My documents to rename, duplicate and reopen drafts. Download PDF, Word or plain text for applications and export a JSON backup to keep editable copies.
4. Write a matching cover letter
From Review, choose Create a cover letter for this CV. Your saved name and contact details are linked automatically. Explain your fit for the actual vacancy, then download and check the letter.
5. Track the application
Use the application tracker to record the employer, role, stage and notes. Link the CV and letter you used. Applications are sent through the employer’s own process, not by CourseToJob.
