How will UK universities assess my qualifications?

Universities set their own requirements. The Manchester examples below illustrate what to check; they do not determine eligibility at other institutions or guarantee an offer.

Undergraduate study

Manchester normally requires WASSCE applicants to complete a recognised foundation programme before undergraduate study. Its policy also distinguishes academic entry from English-language evidence. Ask each university to confirm both decisions for your intended course.

Master’s and further study

Check your bachelor’s classification, institution and grading scale against the programme requirement. Manchester generally looks for a 2:1 or equivalent for taught master’s entry, with some courses considering a good 2:2. This is an institutional example, not a UK-wide threshold.

What will the course and UK living costs be?

Fees depend on your course, intake and individual fee status. Read a university’s international fee schedule and confirm whether the amount is annual or for the complete programme. A deposit may be part of tuition, so avoid counting it twice.

Keep the university quote in GBP. If your funds are in NGN, get a current conversion quote from your payment provider and account for transfer charges and changes before each payment. Our planner uses GBP and does not supply exchange rates.

Can WAEC English replace IELTS for UK university admission?
