When to use Classic
Use Classic when the application is an online form or a conservative UK employer. One column, standard headings, low parse risk. Skip it if a design lead asked for a visual PDF they will open by hand — it will look plain, which is the point.
Who it suits
Finance, law, civil service, graduate schemes, and anyone who should not gamble on columns.
Layout and reading order
This is a single visual layout. A single column can make reading order easier to follow. No layout is guaranteed to work in every recruitment system. Check extracted text and follow the upload instructions.
PDF and Word exports use consistent single-column layouts. To print the visual template, use the builder’s print option and check page breaks.
When another layout may help
Skip Classic if the brief is a designed portfolio leave-behind for a creative studio that said they want to see visual craft on the CV itself.
