Chef CV example

What to include in a chef cv: relevant evidence, skills, sample achievement structures and template suggestions.

A useful starting point

Section, covers, and a kitchen you can name. One or two pages. Skip a recipe book. Skip this if you are applying for kitchen porter — different job.

These examples illustrate structure, not a real applicant’s history. Replace every sample detail with your own evidence. Follow the employer’s instructions on qualifications, registration, document length and file format.

Evidence to consider

  • Section
  • Covers
  • Hygiene rating or your certificate
  • Shift pattern

Illustrative achievement bullets

  • Chef de partie, grill, 80 covers a night Friday–Saturday
  • Level 3 food hygiene; last kitchen rating 5
  • Prepped a Sunday roast for 60 with 2 juniors
  • Zero RIDDOR incidents on my section in 14 months

Relevant skills to substantiate

Grill/section as applicable · Food hygiene · Prep · Allergen awareness · Team kitchen · Stock rotation

What to leave out

  • Photos of plates on the CV
  • Every allergen as a personality
  • Inflated “head chef” titles

Choose a layout

Explore the classic template or use it in the CV builder. This is a suggested layout; follow the vacancy’s requirements.

Frequently asked questions

Should I attach photos of dishes?

A portfolio URL is fine. The CV should still parse as text.

One page?

One for CDP. Two for sous or head with a brigade and P&L.

Agency kitchens?

List them with dates. Gaps look worse than short contracts.
