Tax Advisor CV example

What to include in a tax advisor cv: relevant evidence, skills, sample achievement structures and template suggestions.

A useful starting point

Show the tax, the clients or business, and a saving or risk you handled. Two pages. Skip “good with numbers”. Skip this if you only processed returns with no advice — say tax technician or bookkeeper instead.

These examples illustrate structure, not a real applicant’s history. Replace every sample detail with your own evidence. Follow the employer’s instructions on qualifications, registration, document length and file format.

Evidence to consider

  • ATT/CTA or equivalent status
  • Tax types (corp tax, VAT, personal)
  • Software
  • A technical proof

Illustrative achievement bullets

  • Prepared 80 UK corp-tax computations in a busy season with 2 review notes average
  • Advised on a VAT partial-exemption method that stood HMRC enquiry
  • Built a workpaper for R&D claims used by 6 managers
  • Trained 3 juniors on iXBRL tagging checks

Relevant skills to substantiate

Corporation tax · VAT · CTA/ATT as applicable · HMRC correspondence · Excel · Review notes

What to leave out

  • Photos
  • Aggressive “we save you thousands” marketing
  • Client secrets

Choose a layout

Papers passed and sitting dates. Do not write CTA if you are not.
